Hi all, i want to start off by saying im a junior in high school and really want this season to be a good one. i just really need some advice to why i am not able to play the game quite like i used to. i used to be PHENONMAL Baseball player untill the age of 13. when I was 12 years old I was able to hit the ball farther than i can now. back then I was a pretty average size kid kid too, about 5 foot maybe 95 lbs, but had an amazing swing. i kid you not i when i was 11-12 years old i was hitting home runs as far as 350 feet, no body else in the league could nearly do that, and i forgot to mention that i was also playing a year up too.i was always the fastest kid on the team too, on top of that i had a cannon as an arm.the strage part is that back then i was so nervous at the plate i would always shake because i was so intimidated by the other team.
Anyways now here I sit a junior in high school and with a terrible batting average from last season and asking myself what happened? you would think as soon as a kid would hit puberty they would only get stronger and better at the game. but not in my case. i have came up with possible reasons why i just dont have the bat like i used to... my eyesight in my right eye (oh by the way im a left handed hitter) has significantly declined, i usually wear a contact lense in just that eye because i have near 20/20 vison in the left. the change in the bats to bbcor. oh yea back then i was using a -5 bat at age 12 and now a -3 so the weight hasent change much since then. i dont ever get intimidaded at the plate anymore with outstanding confindince. back then i could hit the ball to any field without even trying(hitting the ball where its pitched) no all i do is pull the ball so much i have such a hard time waiting on the pitch, i make contact on most pitches that are in the zone but i go down looking or hit one off the end of my bat. ive still always been the fastest kid on all of my teams. im not quite sure what it is that i cant hit the ball like i used to. but ever since age 14 to now i wasent able to wait on the pitch or hit the ball where its pitched but im still not sure thats the only reason i cant hit like i used to. anyone have any thoughts for me???
